Stella Lively / Bio

Stella Lively started out as more of a project - a collection of songs written by Ashley C. Carter and a few talented friends nice enough to collaborate with her over the years. The name Stella Lively came from a vintage silver ID bracelet Ashley found at the NC Flea – so tarnished she couldn’t read the name until it was polished. And somehow it's the perfect name for this project. These are mostly live 4 track recordings - raw songwriting demos - before the band had their way with them. You may hear a bit of influence from Fleetwood Mac, Loretta Lynn, Patti Smith, Led Zeppelin, Lone Justice – even Terry Gilliam. Ashley's songs are crafted with a spooky storyteller’s vibe - atmospheric indie rock with more than a hint of cow punk. Debut album is currently in the works...stay tuned.

Ashley C. Carter has also lent her voice on a half dozen albums including D. Henry Fenton’s 2003 debut release Autumn Sweet (Slow Down Dixie), and Clarissa’s 1997 Blood and Commons (In Winter).
