The Jazz Alliance is a 19 member big band jazz ensemble based out of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Founded in 2007, the band is made up of businessmen, teachers, doctors, and other professionals, as well as professional musicians from Nashville, Mt. Juliet and surrounding communities who enjoy performing big band jazz music.
We perform music made famous by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman. Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Cannonball Adderley, Doc Severinsen, Blood Sweat and Tears, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder and many others.
The Jazz Alliance has classic big band instrumentation which includes five saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, guitar, bass, piano, drums, and male and female vocalists.
Our music spans from the 1930's to the 1970's and beyond. We feature an eclectic repertory which includes big band swing, bebop, Latin (including bossa nova, mambo, rumba and others), contemporary jazz, standards, as well as some rock n roll, fusion, funk and blues,
Under the direction of Joe Thordsen, Mario Davidson and Lisa Northcutt, The Jazz Alliance performs at church and charity events, community concerts and festivals and other functions in and around the Mt. Juliet and Nashville Tennessee area.
