Drew Austin's musical journey began as a toddler watching his parents dance to chachacha, tango, waltz and many other styles. After taking dance lessons himself he became more fond of the music than dance, particularily percussion.
In high-school Drew was playing in battle of bands and sneaking into see live music at clubs.
By College he was playing with cover bands and original bands, from weekly bar gigs to festivals. Drew was fortunate to make friends with some older veteran players on the scene, some of whom played with John Lee Hooker, and they mentored Drew onward, starting with a Blues Brother Tribute Band and an original rock band. Drew wanted to explore more musical avenues by his early twenties, and having a strong desire to learn new rhythms, Drew moved to Toronto to study with the renown faculty at Humber College. From Toronto, New York, to L.A. and New Orleans, Drew has traveled to learn the roots of all music, and has studied and played with some legendary musicians. He has performed dozens of National and International Award winning artists.
Andrew's playing diversity and upbeat character is a reflection of his success as an "in demand" session and touring drummer, often seen playing every night in any musical genre.
