About Ryan Harper
I was raised in the small town of Vienna, IL and have always been around music. From singing in church to taking piano lesson that I think every kid has done at one time to another. I think it all started for me when I was sitting in the car with my uncle listening to Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild on the radio that told me I needed to play something other than Mary Had a Little Lamb and Chop Sticks. That same uncle and my dad got me my first guitar when I was 13. After that day practice was all I concentrated on. A few years down the road I lost one of my best friends Brian Romines to the war in Iraq. In his memory I wrote Soldiers Ballad one evening at work. It was then that I realized the only thing that I wanted to do was write more music. So for the last 12 years I have been playing guitar and writing for 6 of them. I have been very fortunate to have worked with very talented musicians so far in my career. Lately I have been recording in Nashville at Keystone Studios, laying down my music and getting a chance to learn more about producing and recording. My greatest influences are Stevie Ray Vaughan, CCR, and of course Steppenwolf. Iv been writing music that not only I believe in, but others can as well. I'm striving to one day be able to work as a songwriter in Nashville and I believe I can with a lot of determination and perseverance. In the winter of 2007 I competed in the Millie Lewis AMTC competition where I received 2nd place in the singing/songwriting category. While I was there I met a lot of very talented people that were chasing their dreams the same as me. I want to thank my fans, family, and friends who called me when I was down in Orlando for giving me the support to keep on keeping on. You are all the driving force that makes possible my love of writing and performing music.--------------------- ..
