Ryan Sullivan is a music producer, dj and performer specializing in emotion evoking dance music. He captivates people with his own compositions and delivers an original and entertaining performance.
Soon after dabbling with his self-made, tape deck mixing contraption in 1997, Ryan took to the streets armed with a shopping trolley full of hand-me-down records and a modest sound system. "That set-up got me a gig at almost every house party in the West side of Johannesburg. My friends and I would walk as far as ten kilometers with that trolley and we never even thought of charging people to play".
By that time, Ryan had taken on all sorts of work, from packing compost for grannies at the nursery to donning sweaty dog suites for toddlers at shopping malls, all in order to purchase a few new records.
Before the turn of the century, Ryan had performed at many local clubs and events and had started to compose his own music. In 2001, he joined the Glo-Tech Africa Records family, where he worked towards his first record releases, helped to coordinate label parties, national tours and held down various club residencies.
Ryan's records have been released internationally on labels in over ten countries, have climbed the international dance charts and continue to receive praise from some of the worlds industry leaders such as Hernan Cattaneo, Moshic, Pole Folder, Menno de Jong, Dibby Dougherty, Jerome Robins, Fady Ferraye, Joy Kitikonti, Flash Brothers, Andy Holt (Redanka), Eelke Kleijn, Darin Epsilon and loads more.
Having toured in Europe and extensively covering South Africa, Ryan Sullivan has entertained tens of thousands through clubs and festivals as well as national and international radio. He is a steady fixture in South Africa's night-life and has been for more than a decade.
