I never really intended to release these songs. I have never been a performer and actually intended to either sell the songs or to produce someone else. Like everyone else I always heard "it only takes one song".
I had some extra money back in the 90's and I had some friends who had just opened up a little studio so I figured what the heck.
Six months earlier one of my buddies and "Sabio" freind, Bob "Speedy" Holmes, convinced me to purchase a guitar and learn to play it.
I found this incredible Guild D25 guitar that I fell in love with and I recorded "Eres La Unica" six months later.I always intended to redo the vocals as most of the songs were completed the night I recorded them and they needed rewrites.
Most everything was done in one take which really shows the genius of my Producer/sound man master musician and head Sabio, Mark "Doc" Akers. I was a total novice but was able to complete right around 12 songs before I had been playing guitar for a year.
Honorable mention to Steve Defalco for that ripping harmonica on Eres la Unica and to Steve Wells, my constant guitar (and whiskey) cohort who taught me my first guitar chords!
Obviously I can't forget the fabulous guitar playing of Paul Parrot. He really takes the songs to another level.
I have edited the song lyrics on this site so they are written as they should be and not as recorded.
These songs are from a collection called, "Just a Face in a Crowd".
