Paul Petersky, Colorado-based composer, arranger and performer releases his second commercial CD, “Beyond My Words,” a collection of original music for solo piano on October 28, 2013. “Beyond My Words" includes many of his popular pieces spanning his 30 year career, appealing to audiences who enjoy a lyrical blend of jazz and new age music.
Paul career began at age 7 as a finalist for the Washington State Young Composers Competition for his composition “Song of Israel. From childhood to present, Paul’s style has incorporated a compendium of genres, including classical, new age and jazz and cultivating his unique, but accessible style.
Paul’s music concurrently matured in the late 1970’s with the rising popularity of other solo piano performers, such as George Winston, Liz Story and Peter Kater—a movement that he has coined “West Coast” piano, as the majority of these influential piano soloists reside in the Western States. “Beyond My Words” draws on these influences and includes many of his popular pieces spanning his 30-year career.
Paul’s musical collaborations are as diverse as his influences. Paul’s musical career also includes accompanying and composing for modern dance troupes, including Hanya Holm, Claudia Gitelman and Alice Terstein. More recently, he has created a score for an independent movie, “Jerusalem Tango” as well as an instrumentalist in “3 in 1” a contemporary worship band at South Suburban Christian Church.
Paul received his Master’s degree from the University of Denver and a B.A. from Colorado College.
