The Respectables are four guys who’ve been playing music since they learned to tie their shoes. Coming from slightly different musical backgrounds, but finding a mutual respect for each other’s talents, The Respectables’ take on rock, power pop, whatever you want to call it, rings loud and true.
What really makes this band click are the songs and knowing what to do with them. Or maybe it’s the combination of singer-songwriter Nick Piunti, teaming up with legendary Detroit guitar slinger, Joey Gaydos, along with Donn Deniston on drums, and Dan Oestrike on bass that makes The Respectables more than the some of it’s notable parts.
With 2008’s release, Sibley Gardens, The Respectables found their way onto several reviewer’s “best of 2008” releases. Locally, Ann Delisi of WDET has given The Respectables plenty of spins on her show. Pop Bang Radio named “Charged by the Minute” as one of 2009’s top singles and “When You Come Back Around” received national exposure on NBC’s “Mercy” in November of 2009.
A one critic put it, “Discovering bands like The Respectables is like spotting land after a long and boring venture at sea. Land ho-not only is their musical terrain a welcome treat for sore ears. But these guys speak my language. I can’t think of too many people who claim to be fans of rock music that would not like The Respectables. With just the right amount of attitude, grit, and melody, Detroit’s The Respectables are a one-stop shop to satisfy all your rock and pop cravings.”
