Lacey was raised in Salem, Illinois, a small town of about 8,000 people. Born into a musical family, she started singing in church at an early age. She learned to sing harmony by singing with her mother, Janeen, and often sang with her trio, the Sounds of Praise. Her father, Greg Hawley, is a guitar player and song writer, having written 4 of the tracks on her first album, “Lacey.” His song, “Turn Me Loose,” track 6 on the album, was released to Christian Country radio and charted at #51 in 2004. Lacey’s current project, “I Surrender All,” is also a family affair. Her mother and sister-in-law, Sara, provide some of the background vocals while her dad and brother, Chad, offer their talents on the guitar and bass.
Lacey earned her degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1999, with an emphasis in vocal performance. While she loves to work with choirs and vocal students, singing is Lacey’s true passion. She rarely passes up an opportunity to lift up the Lord in song and is a desired soloist throughout the Augusta, Georgia area. As a member of Abilene Baptist Church in Martinez, Georgia, Lacey serves as the Children’s Choir Coordinator, as well as a dedicated member of the Sanctuary Choir. She feels incredibly blessed to work with such fine Christian people and top-notch musicians at her church. In fact, some of those friends appear on “I Surrender All”: Karen Boyd on keyboards, Stewart Ray on drums, and David Perry on bass.
The glory for this project goes directly to the Lord! It was through circumstances only brought about by Him that the project was even possible. Lacey feels truly blessed that the Lord uses her to minister to people through song. It’s her prayer that you are touched by the songs on her album and that He is lifted up above all else.
