Known for his soulful and articulate songwriting abilities, Brandon Royal is a multi-faceted performer and songwriter. As a son of a civil-servant and mother of whom is a doctor of theology, Royal’s career began as a battle emcee who often struggled with his creative abilities as battler and his desire to become a more socially conscious artist. Growing up influenced by Motown’s own Marvin Gaye and hailing from Dayton, OH home of Roger and Zapp, funk and soul are in the foundation of his repertoire. Currently rebuilding his catalog, he has collaborated with many artists not including opened for a range of successful acts such as Black Eye Peas, Method Man & Red Man and Mobb Deep (circa 2004-2006 as MC DISSASTER). As a musician he has learned the rudiments of percussions as an amateur drummer and as a vocalist a well rounded singer. Studying the basics of religion during his upbringing would influence his character and being adopted at the early age of 15 and growing up in foster care would this balance give him a unique human prospective. At the age of 19, he would release his first EP Ballistic Without A Cause showcased on mp3.com and by 23 he would go on to be featured on Van’s Warped Tour alongside Self Expression Music as a guest emcee. His most recent works to date Defcon 3 and Put Up both composed by producing sensation Paul Cabbin can be found on his Soundcloud page, while a third single to be released later this fall will be sold on iTunes.
