Jayanti Kaur (pronounced ja-yan-ti core) is a solo artist who is focused on singing, writing and producing R&B songs that will make you fall in love with music again. The musical influence of greats such as Mary J. Blige, Al Green, Jill Scott, Anita Baker,The Gap Band and many more are felt in the harmonic pulse of her music, but such influences fail to taint the originality of her style. Born in Berkeley, California, Jayanti Kaur grew up in nearby Oakland and began playing piano at the tender age of 6. Music not only poured from her tiny finger tips, it escaped from her breath. Jayanti Kaur knew she wanted to sing when her grandfather was playing Pink Cadillac by Aretha Franklin in the car and he turned the music down to listen. He later told her mom “That baby can sing, she gonna be a singer when she grow up.” Even at a young age, her mother and her piano instructor, Mrs Crew, always reminded her she can be anything she wanted to be with practice, dedication and determination.
Hardly born with the patience to wait, Jayanti Kaur began singing in front of an audience at only 13, and fell in love with the idea of being a singer while performing a rendition of Jodeci's “Come and Talk to Me” less than a year later during spirit week at her high school. She then went on to contribute background vocals to rapper and brother Krushadelic's various albums. Jayanti Kaur also began producing her own music. After much experience in the studio, she joined a local band out of Sacramento which routinely performed at local venues in Sacramento and in Southern California. Now back on her own of fulfilling her destiny as a solo artist. She is currently working on her first album," Given The Circumstances…", slated to be release December 2012
