Born on April 24, 1986, Fred “J-Gunz” Phillips grew up on the Westside of Macon, GA in Unionville. Music has always been his passion. He began rapping at the age of 13 under the guidance of his cousin Quentin “Big Baby” Johnson. JG had a story to tell and all he needed was a mic. They started out making music in a storage shed which led to the formation of Big Baby Entertainment (BBE). BBE became an official indie record label in 2011.
JG met Chris “Yung Envy” Knight in 2007 and together they formed Artillery On Dec (A.O.D.). As a rap duo from 2007-2012, A.O.D. performed in GA, FL, SC, NC, and VA. opening up for various artist such as Pastor Troy, Lil Wyte, Khia, Rich Kidz, and Lil Ru to name a few. With their hard work ethic and determination they released three mixtapes entitled Georgia Born, Georgia Bred Hosted by Pastor Troy, Georgia Born, Georgia Bred vol. 2: We Want It All, and P.T.S.D. Pistols, Thugs, Sex, Drugs. A.O.D has also been featured in Raplord.com magazine. Adding to their artistry they were recently featured on New Era Mixtapes and collaborated with artist internationally.
In July 2012 JG and Yung Envy decided to pursue their music careers separately. JG is currently signed to BBE where he is the president and Street Certified Entertainment (SCE) under the leadership of James “380” Barrett. His first solo album will be released late 2012 entitled Self Defense.
