Joseph Mortela / Bio

Raw, unplugged, innovative, a one man force to be reckoned with. Joseph Mortela’s unique and versatile style of compositions have been written for movies, commercials, film, and television. He does the acoustic artist bit better than most, but what sets him apart are his inventive creations from Alternative Rock to Country and R&B. He’s like a flamingo guitarist with a bards voice and a poets sensibility. A native Californian who resides in San Jose, CA.
His newly released CD “Unsettled Rain” is a mixture of slow-tempo to mid-tempo music with a mellow to dramatic and sad to love, emotional scene description.
“On a cool yet calm still unsettled winters day, just to pass some time watching frost drip away…oh where’ve you gone my unsettled rain”
“Unsettled Rain” is now available on all major digital distribution outlets and through his publisher.
He is currently working on recording projects with studio musicians: Drummer Mike Vanderhule of the rock band Y&T; Drummer James Myrick of Red Glare and Soul Kiss; Bass Player Forest Wilson of Wicked Jupiter. In addition, working with mixing and mastering engineer Greg “Monsta” Mendoza of Monsta Made Music Hollywood CA., and with a Los Angeles based publishing Company.
These authentic acoustic melodies say sit back, relax and enjoy the piercing voice of Joseph Mortela and the satisfying vibes of his guitar. The sounds of his acoustic originals have soul dwelling lyrics which create songs that are smoky, yet clever. While he embraces his not so humble guitar crafting rhythms and melodies together for your listening pleasure. Close your eyes and listen it’s not your common cover song, but good old fashion songwriting and performing, delivered with enviable aplomb.
