*"DRUMMER DAN" MC KEAGUE has enjoyed playing in St. Louis for over 35 years (ouch!). Dan's longest band stint was with "Kip Niven" in the 70s and 80s, along with Kohler (bass). Favorites include The Who, Van Halen, and The Grateful Dead. Come and see our really fun band and enjoy his rocking beat with tasteful compliments to our softer material.
*KEVIN KOHLER (Bass Guitar) began at age 7 with his first six-string; by 12 (The Urban Renewals) he gigged in parents’ living rooms and yard parties atop overturned swimming pools. At 14, he and McKeague formed the group Siege, a.k.a. Heavy Chevy & the Carburetors. At 18, Kohler joined “Kip Niven” along with McKeague (their single “Never Lose” debuted on KSHE in ’78), adding regional clubs, frat parties, riverboats, and Chuck Berry’s farm (for an audience of 1) as venues.
*SCOTT RUSSOM (Rhythm Guitar, Vocals), published singer/songwriter, was recently involved in an originals’ project (“Uncle Mike’s Basement”). Tracing his 70’s acoustic rock roots in his writing and performing, Scott has a deep love of Country Rock, as well. “Music is mankind’s great family heirloom. Sharing it makes the ideas eternal and gives great joy to players and listeners in the process. As for Backroads, mediocrity was never so much fun.”
*CHARLIE NICASTRO (Guitar, Vocals): 30+ years’ experience + R&B roots = grinding rock leads! Music has carried him far (LA to Amsterdam to Barbados), and back home to play among old pals. Degreed in Music Comp and Smoky Bars, his gigs in St. Louis and Florida studios leverage Charlie’s commercial diversity. Credits include work with Jim Garver’s band (Garth Brooks’ guitarist), Don Grady (Isaac Hays’ bassist), the Drifters and The Shirelles, Jim Petermann (organist, Steve Miller Band) and The Kurt Howell Band (Howell later with Waylon Jennings’ band); expected in 2011 is the re-release of some of Charlie’s work. Writing and playing continually, he also enjoys the music of his two gifted girls.
