Lords of Absynthe was formed in June 2008. The band developed when Drummer/Lead Singer Victor (Rotten) Novak formerly of TERROR, STATE OF CONVICTION, UNIFIED CULTURE, THE ROTTENS, FUNERAL PYRE, Touring Drummer for MORTICIAN (1996-1999) was released from prison after completing a one year sentence. Upon his release he hooked up with former Mushroomhead Guitarist J.J.Righteous (John Sekula R.I.P.). Not having any direction at the time they rented a room, got some gear, and started practicing. Vic was introduced to Brendan (The Corrupter) Kane - Guitar - and Steve (Beaver) Kuczynski - Bass - and they all started rehearsing music. It became apparent rather quickly that things were not going to work out with J.J. Sekula.(R.I.P.) Differences in musical direction. J.J. opted out and the three were left with a decision: press on, or pack it up. They decided among themselves to get to know each other and see what would come about, playing some Punk cover songs and throwing around ideas for original material. They also decided on the name Lords of Absynthe, all being fans of the beverage, and some having an affinity for other psychedelic substances; being that psychedelics can open doors within the mind and allow the user to cross certain barriers. They felt the name would open more creative avenues and free them to explore more than just one style of music, yet still remain very Punk. Unable to find a singer and tired of auditioning from the local stock in Cleveland, Victor decided one day to give singing a try to see what would come about. The Three realized after a couple of weeks that they were onto something they were all very much into. They started writing songs and eventually recorded their first demo, dubbed "The Mouthmover EP". With catchy songs and good "chemistry" the band is currently enjoying themselves as they bask in the Absinthe Green Glow of their Sonic Creations. In mid-2012 Drummer Victor Rotten sustained serious nerve damage to his left wrist. Finally after months of re-hab he is able to play again and the band is set to start rehearsing again in Mid-January 2013.
