I like to write songs inspired by people, nature and its beauty. Our instruments the voice of the elements of the earth, shaped into vessels that help us tell the story of our lives.
These stories appear as many unique sonic textures on my forth coming, "Heads or Tales" album coming out in 2014. This record is a musical journey four years in the making that infuses my love of classical music with alternative rock, minimalist electronica and lyrical melodies that touch on a wide array of topical subjects.
The songs on "Heads or Tales" explore the boundaries of music by combining elements of alternative rock, baroque pop, future-blues, roots-Americana, alt-country and soul funk with experimental unique one of a kind guitar tunings. I like to call this album a musical experience, with lots of twists and turns.
I recorded all of the basic tracks live at Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco with studio engineer ace, Justin Phelps. (Joe Satriani, Cake, Dead Kennedy's) The rhythm section I brought in for these recordings is an incredible lineup of musicians. Mark Abbott, Scott Amendola and Paulo Baldi threw down the drums, Mike Sugar held down the bass with the help of Jeff Michaels on piano and Rhodes. Over the course of six months, over thirty incredibly talented Bay Area musicians worked with me in the studio to help layer and orchestrate the 14 songs on "Heads or Tales".
The result is an album that offers music fans a unique new sound delivered with the power of an all star Bay Area musical lineup.
