Past & Present
The year was 2008 when singer Kenny Matel searched a musicians Classified add on www.milwaukeerocks.com "Singer Wanted", for an 80's style rock band JÄGER, which was posted the day before his search.
After corresponding with Producer/Song Writer/Guitar player Matt Vogt, & Producer/Songwriter/Bass player Rick Miszewski, each party sent music files to each other, and knew that this was a great fit for everyone. Kenny traveled almost 2 hours one way to Beloit WI to meet the band and audition in the studio.
After only two weeks with the band ,the group recorded an album within 48 hours of total time to get the “Weekend Rush” album on the radio Milwaukee's 97.3 The Brew at the time. JÄGER was featured on the Sunday night program “Home Brew” with radio announcer Dave Riley. With the addition of Drummer Chet King and guitar play Paul Sundquist the band was complete.
With the bands' efforts, in such short time paid off, one month later JÄGER was asked to perform in “Battle of the Bands”competition Harley Davidson's 105th celebration with several other local bands. JÄGER missed 1st place by two points. Not bad for the first time performing live.
After several performances in the Beloit, WI area, JÄGER was becoming known as one of the high energy Rock/ Metal bands in the area. The local radio station started to play the album in regular rotation and high hopes were in the minds of the band.
JÄGER's last performance Headlined with the previous line up, was May 30th, Memorial Day 2010, for an outside event at the Rock on the River Beloit WI, where the United States Air Force was Honored from an Airshow in Janesville WI. Kenny himself was also honored to sing the National Anthem for the pilots that beautiful near summer day. This performance also had the local bands from Milwaukee which participated in the Battle of the Bands 2 years prior.
Kenny Matel moved on to singing competitions such as Americas Got Talent, The Voice, and finally got his break on Simon Cowell's X Factor 2011. Here Kenny auditioned in Nashville, TN at a MyStudio location in a shopping mall, where two people stood in line in front of him. Kenny performed his “Signature Intro” “Everybody Wants to Rock n Roll”, and waited several anguishing weeks waiting to be informed of the audition. That phone call came, and Kenny was directed to travel to Dallas, TX, where he automatically moved straight to the Finals at the American Airlines Arena.
Kenny moved forward to Singers Bootcamp in Pasadena CA where 161 other acts made it out of over 250,000 singers auditioning for the first X Factor Television show in America. Plenty of pictures, itinerary, schedules, emails, and correspondence is available in Kenny's scrap book.
Kenny's room mate in Pasadena CA, Tiger Budbill made it to the 4th position in the competition! Friend Josh Krajcik won the competition of the Reality TV show, where Kenny's journey ended during the incredible process of this priceless experience. Presently, everyone of JÄGER has their own projects going on performing around the great State of WI. Matt Vogt continued to record with his new band “Drama Queen”, and has gotten his music on the local radio station countless times.
Rick has his band “Room to Move” performing at many events around the State and Summerfest 2014.What a solid bass player for anyone to have with Rick driving the rhythm section! Chet and his Country Rock band “South Bound” performs on a regular basis as well, rock'n the surrounding area.
Kenny had his chops practicing with Milwaukee's cover band “Addiction” for the past couple years. Learning various styles of music and vocalists, Kenny stumbled onto his next favorite influence, Rock Singer Ray Gillen from the Rock band Badlands.
Currently, the “Weekend Rush” album had reviews done in www.metal-temple.com June 2014 & ION Indie Magazine August 2014 issue.
This prompted Kenny to resurrect the JÄGER project once again with the blessing of the Producers. With a new line up nearly completed, the music of JÄGER is once again on the verge to Rock out with the rest of the so many great musicians and bands that have the love for entertainment and the will to give a good time to the listener and fans. With the addition of cover tunes of some of the greatest bands in Rock/Metal History JÄGER is on a mission! As Kenny would say to all, Take Care & Keep on Rockn'!
