Ron started playing guitar at five years old; that's what he does. Since he was very young, he has been studying the music of others and writing and performing his own songs. His pops was a professional musician who was signed to IKon Records, The first garage label under Capitol Records, at 17 with his band, "The Bristols." So music is in his blood. Ron has continued to develop his musicianship through years of practice and music instruction beginning with some of the greats of country music, private instructors and the university. He's played with many bands including troubleshooter (with Jeff Keith), Justice, Teaser, Legacy, Specter, Outrage (with Curtis Chapman), Machine-Gun Kelly (with Joey Marietta and Cali Cox), Planet X (On The Orchard Label), and a significant pile of others.
Even though guitar and vocals are his primary instruments, as the bass player for Sacramento's Hard Rock Band -Planet X (The Orchard Label), featuring: Frank Vyan (Vocals), Darryl Zuber (Guitar), Ron Meyer (Bass), Henry 'Mitch' Mitchell (Drums), he won the 98 Rock (KRXQ) Awards for best bassist. The band was also nominated for best Heavy Metal Band in the 2000 Sammie Awards (Sacramento Music Award). The band was also recognized for "Best Fan Website" in the first "Artist Direct Awards," hosted at the "House of Blues" in Los Angeles, CA., in 2000, and MC'd by Jack Black and Tonatious D. The band's Self-titled CD 'Planet X' was released on "The Orchard" Record Label in 1999. Derrick Sherinian is currently using the "Planet X" name.
Ron just released his first solo effort called "Station" on March 21, 2013. "Station" was mastered by Ty Tabor of the legendary rock band, "King's X" at Alien Beans Studios, and is now available at iTunes, Amazon, and most other music outlets.
