Scott Ibex / Bio

For booking or press inquiries please email: scottibex@yahoo.com.

Over the course of the last ten years, Scott Ibex has emerged as a popular artist who regularly performs all over the US. His solo-acoustic tapping music layers tonal harmonics over free-flowing melodies that delight audiences throughout the land. It's not unusual for Ibex to perform hard-hitting slide blues, psychedelic bluegrass, folk, rock, country, reggae, or soul during a set. In fact, he often improvises memorable one-of-a-kind tunes on the spot. For more information on booking a Scott Ibex performance at your university, local theater, events center, private function, or venue email scottibex@yahoo.com!

Ibex is a mostly self-taught musician. He began singing and playing violin at the age of 6. At 10, Ibex performed his first classical piano recital, and by 13, he taught himself guitar, bass, and drums.

Throughout high school and college Ibex wrote, produced, and arranged original music for many different groups. After college, he played drums for New York based rock band, The Power Apes. He also individually wrote Power Apes songs aired on “MTV’s All-Star Backyard Bar-b-que.” (Hosted by Carson Daly and Tara Reid.)

The Apes released their debut album, Party Foul, in 2002 and regularly performed at The Continental (Host to The Ramones, Patty Smith, Iggy Pop, The New York Dolls, etc.)

In 2003, Ibex moved to Costa Mesa, California and began his solo career. Upon graduating Whittier Law School in May of 2006, Ibex released his debut album, ‘At Love’s New Dawn’. Shortly after, he released a well-received folk album, ‘1968’.

In the fall of 2006 Ibex performed in over 20 states on “The Homemade Tour.” The overwhelmingly positive response helped cement his sterling reputation as an artist in demand.

2012 was a banner year for Ibex. He released two brand new records "Dragonbreath" (2.1.12) and "Gratitude" (8.21.12). Ibex also completed two incredible 3 month national tours in support of his new material. From the stages of Opera Houses, world class resorts, universities, and events centers, Scott Ibex's music was on proud display.

2014 has kicked off with a bang to boot! Ibex’s latest record, Horizon Tides, was engineered by Antoine Dufour in Quebec, Canada. It will be released for worldwide distribution in July. Advance YouTube videos featuring new album single "Unconditional" and a Behind the Music artist interview will be available for viewing on the Scott Ibex channel in advance of the album release.

In addition to his national tours, Ibex is also a recently published author. His first book "Low-Budget Rockstar: The Complete Do-It-Yourself Guide to Booking, Surviving, and Making a Profit on Your Own Indie Tour" (Orange Moon Press) was released in January of 2012. It is available for purchase at www.lowbudgetrockstar.net, www.orangemoonpress.com, amazon.com, bn.com, and stores where fine books are sold.
