Full of passion for music, four music lovers come together and bring their own originality to the table to create the Fighting Gemini sound. Fighting Gemini is your new source for hot, main stream Alternative rock. Although FG is a fairly new band out of Houston,TX, Mike, Nick, Adrian and Zach dedicate every moment towards working together to become the serenity you would hear standing in the eye of a hurricane
Mike Donnell - Vocals/Guitar
Nick Drake - Lead Guitar
Zach Sample - Drums
Adrian Stx- Bass
Mike Donnell – Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar
Mike Donnell rocked his first guitar from his grandfather who won it in a poker tournament when he was a mere 9 years old. From that day, it all changed for him. Self educating himself, working his fingers to the bone, his love for music evolved. While putting his love for music on hold and protecting America ’s freedom, Mike found a guitar in a house that was taken over by US forces in Iraq and re-claimed his passion that was put on hold. With a little bit of time, stubbornness for his passion of music and, the internet, he once again began to rock his musical ability to the fullest; taking his passion and ability to the public and made an immediate impact on the acoustic scene with free shows and open mic’s in the Houston area. After finishing in top 10 of The Woodlands Idol Competition, his hunger for more grew. Fighting Gemini was then created just a few weeks later.
Nick Drake - Lead Guitar
In 2001 Nick purchased his first guitar with some money he'd earned doing yard work. He soon found he couldn't put the guitar down and did everything in his power to master the tool of the trade. After deciding guitar lessons were a waste of time Nick began to teach himself. While learning guitar, Nick also learned to play the clarinet and saxophone in school band where he learned the basics of sheet music and reading, which strengthened his commitment to music. However, once he discovered guitar tablature he quit school band and focused solely on his one love: guitar. His first band, 'Easton Common', was a complete failure but it taught him two things: if you're going to play music, surround yourself with good musicians and wear your heart on your sleeve. He started to branch out and play with as many musicians as possible to expand his horizons, starting several projects that never fully developed, including 'Days Before', an original hard rock band that gained a small local following. After a few years of prodding the band to move forward with minimal results he left in search of like minded musicians who were dreaming big. At a chance meeting with lead singer, Mike Donnell, it was obvious they shared the same ideas and aspirations about music and during their first “jam session” in a buddy's garage, they had written most of what would become Fighting Gemini's first song, 'New Friend'.
Zach "The Splinter" Sample
Since he was a kid, Zach was destined to play drums. After several years of banging on pots and pans and making beats on whatever he could find, his parents finally bought him his first kit at age 11. Since then drums have been one of the most important things in his life. He spent three years on the drum line in high school but never felt he was living up to his full potential. After seeing Wuv Bernardo (The drummer for P.O.D) play live, he was amazed. Right then and there he knew that being a drummer for a rock band was his dream! Zach doesn’t just play drums, he truly feels and understands music to its core. This kid is “Legit”….
Adrian’s musical journey commenced at the age of 4 when he began learning Violin and as he continued his education, his musical skill placed him in the advanced symphony of each school he attended. Once Adrian turned 15 he began to teach himself how to play the electric bass in order to help out the music ministry at his church. When he was 17, he joined the high school Jazz band to further his abilities. During his senior year, Adrian attained the gold medal in the citywide High School Bassist competition and went on to receive multiple Jazz Bass scholarships for various Universities. It was during this time period that Adrian was recruited to join a local Houston rock band that was just starting the music writing process. As the band progressed and created the name “Arise the Fallen”, Adrian put down the bass and picked up the guitar to fill in for the guitarist that had left. He remained rhythm guitarist even as the band evolved from post-hardcore rock into Alternative/ Christian Rock and the name of the band became “For He So Loved”. Adrian recorded all the guitar and some of the bass tracks in their 2011 Album titled “Will Remain”. When the band disbanded in 2012, Adrian pushed his love for music aside and set his eyes in accomplishing other goals but then almost exactly a year later an opportunity arose with Fighting Gemini at just the right time and he did not hesitate to take it.
