Pop music singing sensation Kenya Music has become known for her over-the-top fashions, quirky stage props and catchy songs like "Paparazzi", "Blindsided" and “Replay”.
Kenya started taking singing lessons around the age of eight and learned to play piano from the age of five until eleven, when her grandmother passed away and the family gave the piano to hold at a family friend's house. The piano never found it's way back to Kenya's house so she continued to sing in church with piano accompaniment . She began rebelling against her parents by piercing letting her future sister-in-law pierce her nose. She soon became interested in pursuing a career in music and fashion. With her mother as a strong influence, Kenya began singing solos in church and made several trips to L.A. to record an R&B EP, Kenya Music, released a single in 2001. "It reached people worldwide and then her producer moved to back the Philippines and Kenya was on the search to find another great music producer. Literally maybe 300 people listened and bought her CD, and then the label went bankrupt," Kenya explained to Hip-Hop Weekly Magazine.
The young pop star has great ambitions for her future. "Ultimately, Kenya wants to be as much of a household name as Kim Kardashian," she told MTV and Sidewalks T.V. Her album Reflections was released in February 2012. The single from the album, "Can We Spend Some Time" produced by Eric Gonzaga, quickly rose through the charts to #3 on the U.K Radio charts and Reverbnation.com ranking #1 for more than three years. With a signature fashion line coming out and starring film role in Bullets Blades and Blood, Kenya may just make her dreams come true in this action thriller.
