The Hot Club of Boulder disbanded August 17, 2012
Our bio when the band was active:
The Hot Club of Boulder plays Le Jazz Hot, music from the 1920s through the 1940s in the style of Django Reinhardt. The group is an acoustic quartet comprised of two guitars, clarinet, bass, with male and female vocals. Mandolin, Greek bouzouki, bass clarinet and flute add variety to the band’s sonic palette. Their repertoire is a heady cocktail of Django compositions, modern gypsy jazz, and music of the big band era—spiced with Latin, klezmer and Mediterranean flavors. The tempos are brisk, the melodies are memorable. The Hot Club’s music is elegant, exotic, and danceable.
The Hot Club first appeared on the Colorado scene in 2003 and has been swingin’ audiences up and down the Front Range ever since. The Hot Club of Boulder has appeared at the Longmont Jazz Festival and other events for Longmont Jazz Association. The group appeared Djangofest Colorado in Crested Butte in 2008 with international gypsy jazz stars Robin Nolan, John Jorgenson, Gonzola Bergara. The group also produced and performed at three gypsy swing festivals in Longmont with funding and sponsorship from the City of Longmont. On August 14, 2011 HCB played at the Soiled Dove Underground with internationally renowned guitarist Robin Nolan as guest soloist.
Recordings of The Hot Club of Boulder have received airplay on Radio Canal Bleu in Lavergne, France.
