It started with friends and fellow songwriters Jordan Sokel and Josh Kachura deciding that their makeshift outfit needed a name. Pressing Strings was an literal and obvious choice. Hacking away at their acoustic guitars by day and performing their stuff at night to anyone who would listen. They decided to record their endeavor and sell it on the easily penetrable and attainable market known as the music industry. That was in 2008 and now it's closer to 2015. The band has shifted shapes a few times, gaining and losing members, but none the less has pushed on and kept the mojo flowing. The band has released three 10-12 track albums and sold 10,000+ of them independently. Where We Are (2008) is smooth and beachy, Episodes (2010) is more bluesy and rock driven, and self-titled Pressing Strings (2012) is a rootsy mix of reggae-ish rock and soul.
Recently the songwriting has become more singular with Jordan Sokel penning the material for PS as well as a solo project while co-founder Josh Kachura made the decision to take a step away from the band and focus on family life for a while. Drummer Bob Novak wasn't far behind and decided to do the same, leaving Sokel and bassist Nick Welker continue to rock on with the addition of drummer Brandon Bartlett. As a trio they have studio plans on the horizon and another record in the works. For Booking contact PressingStrings@gmail.com
