String Theorie is an Instrumental World Fusion band from Central Connecticut that brings together fingerstyle acoustic guitar, electric bass, and percussion instruments from around the globe to forge a sound that cannot be described in words. The trio of Joel Weik, Karl Messerschmidt and Jordan Critchley came together in the summer of 2009 and have quickly become one of the most prolific bands in the Hartford region.
The trio won the title of Best New Band and Joel Weik took home Best Instrumentalist honors in the Hartford Advocate's 2011 readers' poll. Some other career highlights include opening for legendary fingerstyle guitarist Don Ross; performing for the Connecticut Guitar Society's 2011 "Guitar Under the Stars" festival; appearances on WNPR's "Where We Live," WFSB's "Better Connecticut," and WCCT's "Live and Local"; and a sponsorship by Ovation Guitars.
The group has released a self-titled EP which spawned an official music video for the track "E Minor." The band is anticipating the release of its first full length album, "Little Elephant," in early 2012.
