Hounds of Finn is a high-energy folk-pop band with hints of Celtic, Americana, Bluegrass, & world roots.
Blend foot-stomping, Celtic-infused, Americana-inspired Folk Rock with infectious enthusiasm, electrifying energy, and technical finesse, and the result is the rousing, crowd pleasing entertainment that is the hallmark of every Hounds of Finn show. Joined regularly by special guests, the Hounds of Finn are Pete McCauley (guitar/mandolin/vocals), Michelle MacGregor (fiddle), and Lojo Russo (guitar/mandolin/bass/vocals). Don’t miss them at a festival, theater, concert venue, or pub near you!
The Hounds perform regularly with special guest artists contributing percussion, bass, banjo, vocals, and more guitar and mandolin! Guest artists include Wolf Loescher, of the Sweet Colleens, Jiggernaut, and others, James Towns, and the inimitable Ian Gould.
Festival highlights include the Colorado Irish Fest, the Indy Irish Fest, the Irishfest La Crosse, the Oshkosh Irish Fest, the Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival, and the Irish Fair of Minnesota in their hometown of Saint Paul. Over the years, they have had the privilege to open for such bands as the Young Dubliners, the Elders, and Gaelic Storm.
Since the band's inception in 2007, the Hounds have produced two full-length CDs, two EPs, and a live performance DVD. They are hard at work in the studio recording a new EP slated for release in March 2015.
Their successful radio campaign in support of their second full-length CD "Gravity Pulls," garnered broadcast and internet radio play across North America and around the globe. In July 2013, the Hounds were named the #5 Artist, with "Gravity Pulls" the #6 CD, and three songs in the Top 25 of the Folk DJ Chart. And in August 2013, they were voted the "Best Live Band" in the Twin Cities in a readers' poll on Vita.MN (the entertainment service of the state's largest newspaper, the Minneapolis Star Tribune).
They are honored to be past official showcase performers at the North American Irish and Celtic Festival Organizers' conference in Muskegon, Michigan, the Folk Alliance International Conference in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and the Folk Alliance Regional Midwest Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.
During 2014 two of the original band members, Leslie Rich and David Draeger, left the group to pursue other endeavors. Without skipping a beat, Lojo Russo joined the Hounds and her presence has added a fresh, new dimension of musicianship and entertainment to the mix.
