Memphis Charlie / Glen Smith / Bio

Who the heck is Memphis Charlie?

Memphis Charlie is a high energy acoustic band from the Harrisburg area. The band consists of Glen Smith on lead vocals, guitar and harmonica. He has been known to be joined by other artists at his shows to kick things up a notch. Rhyne McCormick, Chuck Britton, or John Staz are likely suspects!

Glen got his start in the music business over 20 years ago, playing his first paying gig at the Carsonville Hotel. Since then he’s gone on to play in a few different bands, both acoustic and electric with his biggest success to date being the Tony Perry 3. With that project Glen teamed up with Tony Perry and John Staz to form one of the most successful acoustic bands in the area, averaging 170 shows over their 6 year span. They’ve played in bars, clubs, colleges and theaters in some of the biggest cities around including New York, Phila., and Baltimore. They’ve played with everyone from Grammy winner Janis Ian, to local favorites The Badlees. They’ve played the Star Pavilion for the Big 33 Football Classic, and world famous CBGB’s.

Memphis Charlie fills the room with sound and has gathered an already rabid following that is building every show. Check out the rest of the press kit which features a CD with samples of 3 songs from one of our shows, a song list, a schedule, and contact information.
