Lawrence Cooley has performed professionally since the age of 16. He has performed in many parts the United States, Europe, and was the lead singer/guitarist of one New York's top drawing bands “Straight Wired” for over 10 years, known for their debut at Woodstock 94. He has worked with Omnipop, STARS Productions, Total Entertainment, and many of New York's finest agencies, musicians, and clubs.
He recently played in the French West Indies, has been a household name in The Hamptons NY, and has been steadily performing in NYC.
Lawrence is an accomplished singer/songwriter and recording artist. His creative expression abounds, whether he is producing music, writing songs, or performing live. His song writing talent in his original music speaks for itself. Lawrence is currently working on his next new album, which will be released later this year.
Brother, an original song written by Lawrence, was recorded and produced by Russ Desalvo (and a Philharmonic Quartet string arrangement scored by Rob Matthes), who complemented Lawrence by saying "I have been a successful songwriter in the industry for many years and I don't know if I could write a song as beautiful as Brother.” Brother has been released on Itunes and Amazon, as well as featured on MontelWilliams.org to benefit the Montel Williams M.S foundation.
The result is a truly dynamic performance beyond the typical solo acoustic experience. When playing solo acoustic, for instance, Lawrence will lay down a percussive groove by drumming on his guitar while recording it through a loop station. Then he will overlay a bass line, then a rhythm part, until you hear a distinct full band sound. As the song progresses he intertwines more intriguing melodies and harmonies on his guitar, going from the crybaby (wa-wa pedal) to the slide guitar all in the same song. He has the natural ability to play a myriad of acoustic styles seamlessly, from funk to pop, to blues, to reggae, without blinking an eye. He also possesses the right sensibility and chops to appeal to both young and old, covering the full spectrum of musical generations.
Lawrence currently released his new music video for the single “Let It Go” and is working on finishing his E.P. due out sometime in August 2014.
