Larry Melton has been lead vocalist for a number of bands ever since his first High School Group "Blue Steel" in 1976 where began performing in a variety of local town's Fairs/Festivals & School Dances for a couple of years developing his voice and stage presence at a young age building a large following a fans young and old. .
In June 1979 Larry had a serious diving accident requiring spinal surgery to his neck. Extremely Lucky to Survive and not Paralized!!! Larry forever thanks Doctor Donald Prior and his team from Brampton Memorial Hospital for giving him his second chance at a Life that was nearly taken away. Unable to work and in a neck brace Larry was asked to try out for a touring Rock Band, Larry auditioned & got the job as the singer/frontman. They named the band "Blackwell" and set out on the road across Ontario & Quebec non stop 7 days a week for a couple of years developing a stronger voice and stage presence night after night. However the band was not getting any original material finished so they took a break from touring taking regular 9-5 jobs, planning to continue but lead guitarist George Bernhardt wanted no part of the daily 9-5 grind. He quit Blackwell, regrouped with Lee Aarron's female singer helping to taking her band to Canadian National Recording success as "The Metal Queen" (George is now lead guitarist for Rick Springfield since 2005)
Larry stayed full time in the Tanker-Trailer repair industry for a few years at the same time searching for a group of talented musicians capable of performing and recording with quality potential. Realizing a recording "DEAL" was no where in sight he set out to gain recording time a different way. He assisted guitarist Brian Hewson in building his own studio "Escarpment Sound" in the country setting of Rockwood in trade for recording time where the two recorded a number of demos over the years. (Canadian Legend "STOMPIN TOM" saw the studio and fell in love with peaceful country atmosphere and recorded a dozen albums there along with over 100 other songs yet to be released over last 25 years before his passing)
Realizing music was his passion in life, Larry quit the tanker industry and set out to make music his way of life performing as frontman in a number of local bands, playing acoustic solo shows and doing disc jockey work and also helping to build another studio Erin Wood Studios with drummer/friend Sal Noguera. Larry plans to record all the years of numerous songs piling up as demos and continues to play live venues with a number of talented musicians.
Super Stars "INXS" requested a demo from Larry for ROCKSTAR INXS in 2005, where he was able bi-pass the Canadian rounds of tryouts and was respected with a personal audition in front of Kirk Pengilly and Tim Ferris of INXS !! Larry was not selected for the show to try out as their new lead singer however Larry has continued to absorb the INXS music into his soul and is prepared to take on the challenge in case INXS calls again!
Please listen to "THE GOAL IS GOLD", a powerful original song inspired by the Vancouver Olympics 2010. The middle chant section right after the lead break was inspired by Walter Gretzky's interview in Vancouver after he carried the Torch in the Relay across the Country! Also check out the video of Walter joining Larry in the chant and chorus when he jumped from his chair when requesting to hear it after he read the lyrics at a Xmas Fundraising Event in 2010. !!
'RIDIN' ON", is another original song dedicated to his father on Canada's West Coast. It is a catchy cruisin' tune no matter what style your "Ride " is.
