Sultry Chicago-Bluesy meets hard-hitting harmonic invasion. Honey & the 45's, a Chicago-based five-piece band, tosses it up in the air and what lands is an eclectic collection of soulful surprises. New sounds, provocative lyrics, can't-stop-listening tunes, combined with elements of folk, blues, jazz, funk, and soul. With powerful vocals, pocket grooves and a sometimes playful, sometimes rockin’, sometimes somber sound, they will leave you swooning for more.
The band was formed in Chicago in October 2009 as folk/acoustic trio Snow on Sunday by core members Kristina Cottone, Kim Kozel and Chris Kusek. After a few lineup changes, Honey & the 45's evolved into a full rock ‘n’ roll revue by adding bassist Sean Tatum, guitarist Jon Gould and drummer Jarad Kleinstein. They have been called “The Sound of Chicago", pulling from jazz/blues roots but delivering a new rock sound with a retro feel. The band has appeared at staple and historic venues throughout Chicagoland and St. Louis area including House of Blues, The Metro, Concord Music Hall, The Wildey Theater and Blueberry Hill. Songs from their debut EP "The Need" have been played on over 100 radios stations nationwide, and the band is regularly invited to perform live in-studio sessions. In April 2013, Honey & the 45's took home the Championship at the battle of the bands "Battle For Catalano" in Milwaukee, WI - securing a slot at Summerfest 2013. Their debut full length album "The Need" was released in September 2013 and is now available on CD baby, itunes, Amazon, and Spotify. With eclectic music and an energetic live show to boot, they are becoming an exciting presence in Chicago and beyond. The band is currently touring and winning the hearts of music fans across the Midwest. Honey & the 45's are looking forward to making more music and seeing what the future will bring!
