Victory Sweet / Bio

The sky... home to fluffy-white pillows, blinding sunshine, ominous rainclouds, electric bolts of lightning and rolling thunder. Though it is hard to categorize or compare the sound of Victory Sweet, it is rather easy to liken it to the sky... unpredictable and best received if we surrender to it and wait for the rare and revered rainbow.

Greatly inspired by an eclectic mix of old-school soul, 70s folk-rock, and new wave, Ms. Sweet cites artists such as David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, Depeche Mode and Bono, as some of her earliest influences. Her powerful voice is distinctly her own. Living up to her namesake, she is both dangerously provocative and gently reassuring. Her maturity as a lyricist and producer is evident, as she gives us the result of what can only come from years of crafting her unique sound.

As a performer, she has opened up for legendary acts such as Taj Mahal and Lee "Scratch" Perry. As a writer and producer, her songs range from pop and folk, to reggae and electronic, and are featured in film and numerous shows for MTV.

Victory Sweet's latest EP, entitled Spaces Made For Songs (Spring 2012), is a 5-song journey from darkness to light. Accompanying Ms. Sweet is a charismatic cast of troubadours. The EP features Johnny B on drums, Etienne Franc on bass, Russel Kreitman on keyboards, Chris Lynch on violin and Cello Joe.

Before long, you will be singing along, but you might feel like you are roaring.
