Giants in the Sky is an alternative rock band from St Louis MO. Formed in 2007 the band is comprised of Rilee DeClue (vocals), Scott McAnally (guitar), Rick Dachroeden (bass), and Sean Eugene (drums). Giants in the Sky’s music can be labeled as indie rock with their sound being described as very big with a strong focus on melody and dynamics. Collectively the bands broad list of influences range everywhere from John Lennon and Tori Amos to Jimmy Eat World and the Foo Fighters. In the end, Giants in the Sky have carved out a sound that is uniquely their own.
The bands formation came about in the most classic of scenarios when vocalist Rilee DeClue answered an ad the other three had posted on the wall of a local record store after months of auditions that never panned out. After a quick initial meeting at a nearby coffee shop the band soon got to work and before long started playing shows all over the city. Over the next few years Giants in the Sky continued to play with a wide variety of local and touring acts, slowly building a dedicated fan base known as the Citizens of the Sky. In 2009 the band released their first 6 song E.P. Miles and Miles.
In the summer of 2013 Giants in the Sky launched a KickStarter campaign to help with the funding of their long awaited follow up to Miles and Miles. The campaign was a success and on September 13th 2014, Giants in the Sky released their second 6 song E.P. Dear Citizens… Over a year in the making the E.P. is dedicated to the very fans that helped make it happen and who have also supported them over the years. The band feels this E.P. is stronger and much more consistent throughout than their previous effort.
Giants in the Sky continues to create and play music simply because it’s what they love to do. They have found a home amongst the ever evolving St. Louis music scene and the years of playing have sharpened their skills making them known as a consistently tight and powerful live band.
