DJ SLAM! (James Dewar-Davies), a Toronto resident, is a musician/sound engineer and Post-Production & Foley specialist.
James has a Recording Arts Certificate from Nova Scotia Community College, and has almost completed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree (marketing management) from Dalhousie University.
During school James was professionally DJing, promoting, event planning and recording musical acts. He produced/recorded for such artists as Something Good, Kayo, Miles Jones, Fatt Matt, as well as assisting live sound for CBC Television and Eastlink TV. Upon completion of his Certificate, James was the Apprentice Sound Editor for “Roaming” (September 2012) a film by Michael Ray Fox, which was nominated for a number of awards in the Atlantic Film fest, and is still circulating at festivals all over North America.
As a DJ, SLAM was the first place champ for the Red Bull Thre3style in Halifax qualifier, and 4th place finalist in Atlantic Canada. He also was the 2nd place finalist for the Dalhousie University DJ Search, where he won his first set at the Evolve music Festival (voted best music festival in Canada by CBC radio). James was also the 1st place winner of a number of other battles in Halifax from 2007-2012, as well as 3rd in the DJ Olympics in 2011.
He has performed with the likes of Afrika Bambaataa, RJD2, Slaughterhouse, Kid Koala, 12th Planet, Zeds Dead, Pharaoh Monche, Skratch Bastid, Team Canada Dj’s, Classified and many many more…
