After spending time playing in bands of various genres, Nick Lyon began writing acoustic folk songs for himself. In 2009, he added his older brother Travis on bass and veteran drummer Mark Hine, and The Dead Armadillos were born. The band added a lead guitarist and began playing a more aggressive style at festivals and venues around the state. In 2010, they recorded and released their debut album, "Streets Ahead", at Watershed Studio in Enid, OK with Barry Johnston.
Now based in Guthrie, The Dead Armadillos recently added Bert Hughlett on lead guitar and recorded a follow-up EP with Wes Sharon at 115 Recording in Norman. Earlier this year, the band was described as Social Distortion meets Pete Yorn meets The Replacements meets Johnny Cash meets The Clash. The self-titled EP will be available sometime before the end of the year.
