Nathan DiRuzza was born in Canton, Ohio in 1988, and raised about half an hour away in the small town of Alliance. Nate’s father has a strong interest in fine arts, and created his own business, Classic Improvements LLC, which focuses on building, painting, and remodeling. His mother teaches at an elementary school, and often encouraged her children to sing and learn musical instruments. Nate has four siblings, one older and three younger, and together they were raised with traditional family values.
One of Nate’s earliest influences was Elvis Presley. Nate played Elvis in a school play at age seven, and for the rest of the year wrote “Elvis DiRuzza” at the top of his homework. It was not uncommon for his mother to discover Nate standing on her coffee table, singing Presley songs into a remote and wearing a cape.
In High School, Nate discovered the guitar and was immediately hooked. Unable to afford lessons, Nate decided to teach himself how to play. Less than a year later he was composing music and writing his own lyrics. He dreamed of fame and fortune.
In 2006, Nate began attending undergrad at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. His love of guitar inspired him to begin performing for the school, as well as local music venues, restaurants, and festivals. Nate quickly made a name for himself in the area, and he was encouraged to consider turning his music into a career. He graduated from Marietta in 2010 with a Bachelor’s in Communications, and soon found himself in Nashville, Tennessee working with a friend in the heart of the music business. Nate quickly learned the value of personal effort. In fact, his friend often told him bluntly, “I can’t make you a star. You can make you a star.”
It was not long, however, before Nate began to rethink what it meant to be a star. Nate’s dreams of fame and fortune transformed into a desire to help others through his music. He decided to focus on writing music that was not only catchy, but rich with meaning and positive messages. The “Nate DiRuzza Keep On Being You Concert” is a series of shows in which his performance is interlaced with a heartfelt talk addressing some of the most common struggles. Nate encourages his audiences to be kind and respectful, to follow their dreams, and to always be their authentic self. Today, Nate performs for schools all over the country from K-12. You can also catch him performing for fairs, festivals and colleges near you!
