South African Grammy-nominees, The Peace Train, take you on a joyride from the traditions of Mother Africa to the exhilarating jazz-folk-rock fusions of today with their unstoppable beat, powerful dances, and compelling harmonies.

Making history in 1992, South African-born Sharon Katz formed the country’s first 500-member multiracial performance group to break through the barriers of Apartheid. Organizing a courageous tour on board a real train - The Peace Train - Sharon and her friends Ladysmith Black Mambazo helped spearhead the path toward democracy in South Africa. Sharon Katz & The Peace Train band have now toured the world for over a decade as Nelson Mandela’s cultural ambassadors.

Based in America but performing globally, the versatile group thrills audiences in intimate venues, performing arts centers, festivals & stadiums. Their school and university programs combine diversity education with interactive entertainment adaptable for all ages. Cultural collaborations are their speciality and range from teaching African songs to a local choir, to facilitating mixed-genre productions, or to crossing rhythms with symphony orchestras. They can be booked for one-show only events, week-long residences, or month-long tours throughout an entire state.
