Ninth Moon Black is 5 piece psychedelic metal band hailing from the Pacific Northwest. NMB was started by guitarist Erin in his bedroom, where he played and recorded all instruments on a 16 track. Not satisfied with the limitations of solo recording, he would take things to the next level by putting together a full band and incorporating video into the live show.
Since the release of their 2008 self titled debut, NMB has landed many slots opening for bands such as Dead Meadow, Melt Banana, Middian, Indian, Earth, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth and Ludicra. They also supported Wolves In The Throne Room and Minsk on their 2009 West Coast tour.
January of 2011 saw the kick off a college radio campaign with Team Clermont for their follow up EP, Kalyug. which debuted on the CMJ Loud Rock chart at #31. It was the only self released album on the chart that week and continued to hold various positions for the entire duration of the campaign. Kalyug also debuted on the CMJ Loud Rock Select albums chart at #58, and the track "Kalyug" charted on CMJ's Loud Rock Select Tracks chart at #87. In the final weeks of the campaign, Kalyug made its way to the CMJ 200 landing at position #181.
Writing and performing music that is very cinematic in nature, Ninth Moon Black aims to create an experience for the listener, often showing self produced and experimental films that accompany their live performance.
Currently, NMB is in the studio recording a new album with Billy Barnett (Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Yob) and expect a late autumn/early winter release.
