Hotel of the Laughing Tree is an indie/rock sextet from Long Island, New York that has been on a steady climb since the band's inception in late 2008. In August 2009 Hotel offered their debut EP Old Dominion to the world and it hasn't taken listeners long to notice the band's ability to create original intelligent songs, catchy melodies, and top notch instrumentation that can only come from years of practicing and honing the craft of songwriting. How do they make a sound that's wholly unique to themselves? “I just kind of write whatever is going on in my life at the moment,” vocalist/multi-instrumentalist AJ Estrada says. "We all have our own influences and it shows," says drummer Neil Scalesse. "We work hard to keep our sound fresh." Hard work and determination are two of Hotel's strongest assets and settling for mediocre is not in the cards. This was never more evident than in December 2009 when Hotel took home mtvU's Best Music on Campus Award at the 6th Annual MTV Woodie Awards at the Roseland Ballroom in New York as voted by fans, who came ready to answer the call when Hotel could only hope for a chance to compete in the nationwide competition. Despite the start of a new decade things have not slowed down for Hotel. They were featured in Alternative Press as the Unsigned Band of the Week in January, 2010 and have developed a small but ravenous buzz in anticipation of their first full length record, "Terror and Everything After" coming out January 18, 2011!
Hotel has had the honor to share the stage with great bands such as:
