With it's "world music to rock your soul", TSP was created by Long Island singer/songwriter/guitarist Lori Nevias and features lead guitarist Greg Sullivan. Casey adds doumbek, bass doumbek, frame drum , riq and back-up vocals. Mostly Jewish-inspired music (Sephardic, Ladino, mizrachi and Lori's original songs) plus some contemporary folk/rock and belly dance favorites.
Casey's unique teaching method, "no frills percussion", focuses on the skills needed to play a supportive role in music ensembles and to back up a lead drummer during belly dance drum solos. Anyone who wants to learn the core rhythms used in belly dance music is encouraged to give Casey's fun & funky "no frills percussion" workshops a try! Her student group "Raq Steady" has performed at showcase events on Long Island and NYC.
Casey's "Rhythms for Dancers & Drummers" class is back! Classes meet Tuesdays from 8-9PM at the Harem Belly Dance Studio in Baldwin. Walk-ins always welcome! Please contact the lovely Aviva Khadra at 516-312-5966 to hear about specials and to register for classes!
