Kevin Killen is a Philadelphia-born songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, who spent the last 10 years immersed in the local and national Folk/Americana scene. July of 2013 saw the release of " Laurelwood Road,” a 6-song EP of his original songs performed completely by himself. While heavily focused on his own music, Kevin finds plenty of time to work with other great artists in the Philadelphia area such as Hezekiah Jones, Tin Bird Choir, Brad Hinton Band, Ali Wadsworth, and Wissahickon Chicken Shack to name a few.
Aside from playing and touring, Kevin is constantly recording, and 2013 has been a fruitful year. Three records he produced were released this year ("Homesteady" by Tin Bird Choir, "Songs for a Red Bird" by Psalmships and His own Ep "Laurelwood Road"), as well as multiple songs he had the pleasure of playing on, such as "Blue"(Dawn Hiatt), "Beacon Hill"(Small Houses), "Mourning Dove"(BRad Hinton) and 'Shannon Rhodes"(Hezekiah Jones).
"I’m not exactly sure when I first heard of him, but as I am a guy that is interested and active in Philadelphia’s folk and singer-songwriter scene, the likelihood of me encountering Kevin KIllen was pretty certain. Killen’s presence in our brotherly city runs deep, it seems as if he has his hands in everything; if he’s not playing in various bands, producing and recording albums (currently, he’s working with local rootsies Tin Bird Choir), then he’s out performing his own music in the area and the country. He’s a busy guy." - Fred Knittle/Folkadelphia
