Born in the basement of a cell phone store in 2008 and remaining firmly underground ever since, Somerville’s favorite sons The Tin Thistles return June 26th to incite a drunk n’ roll revolution with their new E.P. We Were Promised Better.
Honed by a year and a half of bringing their signature brand of ruckus to shows all over New England, We Were Promised Better stands as sonic breakthrough. Following up their well received disc At The Bottom, The Tin Thistles have created a E.P. full of propulsive rhythms, righteous guitar and vocals effected by the world we live in, keeping the listeners fist in the air while the other searches for a pint.
Formed as an acoustic group in 2008 by Bil Callahan (vocals), Kevin Bogart (Bass) and Allen McRae (Guitar) The Tin Thistles found their true calling of making a tremendous amount of noise with the addition in 2009 of Artie Bergevin (drums). Since then The Tin Thistles have played countless drunken throw downs, making fans and enemies in every town they rock. The We Were Promised Better E.P. make good on the promise of these intense, crowd pleasing exploits and brings to bear full force of these up and coming local rockers.
We Were Promised Better gives a glimpse of the future of the Boston rock scene, a place where bands can join together in drunken celebration with the greatest fans in the world and snuff out the ironic distance that has poisoned the scene. The Tin Thistles are on a mission to bring the rock back to Boston, unless they get too drunk… then fuck it.
