the beginning of a long list of gospel cuts. She soon had another #1 hit gospel song, recorded by Sandi Patti entitled, I'll Give You Peace, for which she was also nominated for a Dove Award.
She was also writing country and pop songs that eventually got picked up by some very well known country and pop artists. In the early '90's, her original pop song was recorded by Earth Wind & Fire, entitled Spend the Night, which was singled and released to radio, where it reached Billboard's top 40 charts.
A few years later, she wrote 2 songs, that got picked up by country star, Lorrie Morgan. One of those songs was entitled, By My Side, and was recorded as a duet by Lorrie Morgan and Jon Randall. The two of them made it a radio hit that reached Billboards top 40 charts, and the song also won them DUO EVENT OF THE YEAR at the CMA awards.
In 1993, Constant Change then Dawn Thomas, got a record deal with Elektra Records, also the recording label for pop/jazz artist, Anita Baker. Dawn(Constant Change) recorded a $500,000 dollar album, produced by the legend, Tommy LiPuma, who just a few years earlier produced the classic Natalie Cole album, UNFORGETTABLE. The album experience put Dawn in the company of some of the most respected, award winning, and talented musicians, engineers, managers, and artists in the music industry. Guys like Bill Schnee, Nathan East, Vinnie Caiuta, Michael Brecker, David Pack of Ambrosia, Al Schmidt and more.
