Bridge Construction is a guitar happy, melody driven, harmony-infused sextet from Columbus, Ohio that likes to rock, rattle and groove. Front man Chris Nye, courted by Epic Records in his youth, is back after a regenerative hiatus. Short on sleep but not on songs, he and his wife, front woman Pam Nye, produced and released their first CD, Rockslide Dancing in 2011 winning second place for best album of the year at The Columbus Music Awards. Poised to release a second CD Beyond The Blue this year, and their third as well, the band is excited to get their new songs heard.
They are influenced by the Beatles, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Dave Matthews, and Weezer. Reggae, funk, rock, blues and folk find their way into their musical landscape, as do the acoustic and electric guitar. Performing at local venues like King Ave. 5 and The Woodlands, the band is looking to play more shows in 2014, including outdoor events and festivals. Band members are Matt Andrus on bass, Tye Price on lead guitar, Pam Nye harmony/lead vocals /percussion, Chris Nye lead vocals/harmony/rhythm guitar, Eric Alexander drums and Rick Carleski keyboards/backing vocals.
Chris has been an integral part of the local music scene. Since his earlier days performing as a solo and duo act, then performing with his first band Slaves On The Run, he went on to open a recording studio recording local bands notably The Toll(Geffen), hip hop artist Bizzy Bone, The Vague, The Lilybandits, Orchastraville, singer/songwriters like Donna Mogavero-he has come full circle. Back at the helm, leading his band into the mystic, he has just hit his songwriting stride. “It’s good to be back. You can sleep when you’re dead. Let’s make some music!”
