Growing up in a close-knit family, Rachel Menconi was instilled with a diligent work ethic at a very early age. Rachel grew up in a small town in Northern NJ about a half an hour away from "The Big Apple". She was born into a very musical family. On her mother's side, her grandfather was a pianist, composer, conductor of his own orchestras, and attended Julliard. Her Grandmother was a singer who won many competitions and played piano. (That is actually how they met.) Her Aunt worked at ABC Music Publishing for 30+ years. On her father's side, Rachel's uncle played saxophone and was the musical director for a USA Navy ship.
Rachel has been performing all of her life. Being continuously surrounded with such a musical family, it is no wonder why Rachel realized what she wanted to do with her life at the early age of 2. She would play dress up and sing/dance to herself in front of the mirror. She started dance class when she was 3 and when she turned 6, she started musical theatre training. Rachel started Bel Canto style singing lessons when she was in the 4th grade. She has 12+ years of musical theatre training (been in 40+ musicals), 19+ years of Bel Canto (Italian technique) based singing lessons, 10+ years of acting training (Stella Adler, Stanislavsky, Meisner, and Chekhov Acting Technique for Theater-On-Camera), and 6 years of dance (tap/jazz/hip-hop).
Rachel is a voice/acting technique teacher and has 12+ years of teaching experience teaching children, teens, and adults (ages 8+).
As a recording artist and songwriter, Rachel has written over 52 songs. She has 15 years experience writing many song genres. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA, NATS (Certified), The Recording Academy (The Grammys), VASTA, NAMTA, BMI, & MAC.
As a director/producer/writer, she has starred in one woman shows, two women shows, touring music revues, short films, & music videos. Rachel originated the role of Antigone in BFK's Oedipus: the musical (Tri-becca Studios/NYC) and was last scene in the reading of the new play "Vanishing Son" in NYC. Rachel is the Founder/Artistic Director of Sunshine Face Productions and Founder/President of Sunshine Face music publishing (both founded in 2007).
She has performed to sold out crowds and has been honored with many standing ovations. Rachel has worked/performed with many people in the business including Grammy-Tony-Emmy Award Winners/Nominees.
