I have been playing the trumpet now for over 42 years playing with a few bands as well as doing some studio recording work for radio commercials along with solo work. Jazz music is a favorite style of mine along with spiritual music to be performed in a church setting for worship.
"Embracing 50" is a song I composed in 2011 which is a trumpet fanfare celebrating my turning the age of 50 in October of 2011. This fanfare is dedicated to my parents. At the University of Mount Union located in Alliance, Ohio, I was a member of the marching band, concert band, jazz band and brass choir. The brass choir under the direction of Carl Kandel was a strong influence for me to want to play in a church setting for worship. We performed at many churches to include the Washington National Cathedral in Washington D.C. The late Maynard Ferguson provided me the greatest inspiration in my playing. I had the opportunity to meet him several times and he autographed one of my trumpets at a back stage reception following a concert. One of my greatest memories was performing a solo for the late President Ronald Reagan during a campaign rally in Canton, Ohio.
