ZUBZUB is the creation of long-time Ozric Tentacles bass player, Zia Geelani. After leaving the Ozrics in 2002, Zia grew his solo side-project Zubzub with talented friends in to a fully fledged band. This live, electronica group has gone from strength to strength, with four well-received albums of eclectic and highly varied dance music released and a constant gig schedule across the UK and Europe. ZUBZUB have become a firm favourite in the dance scene.
Zubzub released their 4th studio album, “Primate”, in May 2011, on their own newly-formed record label, Monkeyface Records and look to maintain the upward trend of a growing fanbase and strong reviews. The new album builds on the high production standards that Zubzub are known for, whilst traversing multiple genres and raising the tempo and musical complexity higher than before. Driving the dancefloor is its main aim and tracks have already been tried and tested live with the people stomping in approval.
The Zubzub sound incorporates an epic musical feel, complex programming, deliciously-groovy dance rhythms and bass-lines all infused with live musicianship. They seamlessly blend an eclectic variety of styles and genres; trance, drum and bass, techno, breaks and dub all feature and are tinged with pure psychedelia. Also in the mix is a distinct taste for ethnic instruments and influences.
The band have played hundreds of gigs, with multiple appearances at the Glastonbury Festival and Glade Festival, along with headline appearances at the likes of Off the Tracks, Solfest, Sunrise, Waveform, Offworld, Antiworld, Wickerman and Knockengorroch to name just a few.
