While the seasons and fashions have ebb and flowed, somewhere in the brilliant streets of Brighton, singer/songwriter Emily Baker has quietly been honing her album ‘House Of Cards’. Slated for an autumn 2010 release, this debut record provides a snapshot of relationships building and falling:
‘this is an album about the walls we so often put between love, between ourselves and each other’
A restless soul, Emily’s songwriting career has naturally evolved into that of a recording artist. The journey has not been a typical ‘conveyor belt’ one, with various peaks and valleys along the way. In 2009, she won significant praise from the creative industries winning the Arts Foundation Songwriting Award.
'When I realised I felt a small pang of jealousy for how good one of these songwriters is - that was when I knew I'd found my winner.' (Arts Foundation Judge Vashti Bunyan).
The driving force is simple: taking a slice of real life and sharing it with a melody that you’ll never forget.
"In the grand tradition of acoustic singer/songwriters, Emily Baker has lessons for us all…"
