Geron Hoy / Bio

Geron Hoy officially established himself on the music scene with his 2011 solo debut, Soldier. The album features "Lady Crow," winner of the 2011 Grammy Association Pitchathon, and "Gracie," recently selected by Starbucks to play on rotation in its 7,000+ stores worldwide.

Geron's second album, Lunatic, caught the attention of celebrity fans such as David Copperfield and Howard Stern shortly after its release in 2012. After broadcasting the title track to his then 1.1 million Twitter followers, Stern followed up with an interview by Lisa G for Howard Stern News. The story reached the front page of Reddit.com and was subsequently written up in the New York Post and on Grammy.com, helping boost the album to the top selling position on Bandcamp and other online music stores.

"Lunatic" has since been selected as a follow-up to "Gracie" on Starbucks' global in-store playlist and was on weekly rotation on Philadelphia's Radio 104.5 following a live in-studio performance. As of February 2013, the track was selected from over 20,000 entries in 119 countries as a current semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition.
Like Geron himself, Geron's music is often surprising in its diverse influences and juxtapositions, yet forms a cohesive narrative that captures universal human emotions and archetypes through vivid imagery and allegory. There are lessons in Geron’s music, as in his life, about living through hardship with strength and grace. His music inspires listeners to find beauty and hope in a world that too often seems lacking in both.
