'Frankie Beagle's songs are poetic, quirky, and subtly humorous. As her first album ‘The Sounds’ reflects, she combines technical mastery with an eclectic sensibility, with influences ranging from circus fun fair music, folk and blues. Frankie Beagle achieves an original and entertaining expression that is, above all, beautifully honest' – Arlyn Culwick
This Joburg based artist plays solo and with her band David Driver on keyboards and Alex Collins on bass. Live, they paint fantastical vocal harmonies and co-create a transportive experience for the audience, casting dreamy landscapes with quirky percussion around the eccentric lyrics of Frankie’s vocally pivoted edgy indie-folk songs.
Her live shows have been favourably reviewed in Rolling Stone and in various online forums. She has released and co-produced one album ‘The Sounds’ which has been well reviewed in the April 2013 issue of the Rolling Stone. She is currently in the process of recording her second album. Her video for single ‘Sailor Song’ was airing on MKTV and shown at the Whitman Film and Art festival.
Just a few of the venues she’s played at are The Bioscope, Splashy Fen, Puma’s Real Music Wednesday’s, The Goethe Institute and at main stage Afrikaburn, Rise and Shine Festival. She and the band have recently made an appearance on Saturday Morning Live on SABC TV 2.
