Tonya Lynette (Whitman is her maiden name) Stout has just released her first singer/songwriter album now available on i-tunes, Amazon, and other online distributors. After 10 years as a professional songwriter in Nashville, Stout has built quite the fan base. So, now is the time to give those loyal fans what they've been asking for. “When I play and sing my music out at songwriter venues in Nashville, people always ask me, 'Where can I buy your CD?' My music has been sung by other artists, but now my music will be available with me singing my songs.
The former Jimtown High and Ball State University graduate grew up performing at the Elkhart County Fair, on the stage at Ball State University’s talent search and she wrote her first song on a piece of notebook paper at age 8 that she has framed in her music room. Since then, she's shared the stage with stars such as Vince Gill, country duo Joey + Rory, Paramore's Hayley Williams. Stout co-writes songs on music row with some of Nashville’s biggest writers. You can often catch her performing at Nashville's historic Bluebird Cafe.
Stout’s songs have been recorded by Grammy Award winning country singer Billy Dean. Her song, “A Seed” is on Dean's current album. Most recently, Hoda Kotb, the host of The Today show, heard Tonya’s co-writer sing the song “A Seed” live at the Bluebird Café in Nashville while visiting. The song moved Hoda enough to feature it more than once on The Today show with Hoda & Kathie Lee.
