It has been said that Rock and Roll is dead. Truth is, rock is always alive and kicking in Texas. You just have to know where to find it. A group of four reigning from the little town of Cypress, Texas have set forth to show the world how rock remains strong in the Lone Star State. This little hidden gem is called SixL6!
SixL6 is focused on accomplishing the task of resurrecting Texas’ style, groove heavy rock and roll. The combined effort of four talented musicians with a common goal resulted in the creation of tasty southern rock with a twist of today’s modern tone. Now they are known for “bringing it back”! “It”, is in reference to the essence of rock that inspired the music that you hear produced from SixL6 today.
Influences range from Gov’t Mule, Allman Brothers, Alice in Chains, The Black Crowes, Clutch, Black Stone Cherry, Foreigner, Boston, Podunk, Guns n Roses, Metallica and more. These influences are extremely apparent in the song writing and arrangements of SixL6’s original material. Plain and simple, this is the riff heavy rock that moves your soul.
The southern rock project features seasoned musicians including the creator, local Houston area lead guitarist Ryan Beverlin (formerly of The Freddie Everett band and Dimitri’s Rail) who has not only brought his incredible guitar skills but also is now filling the front-man position providing the lead vocals for Sixl6. Tammy Griffin sits behind the drums and provides the very characteristic rhythm style that is unique to SixL6. This girl can bring it and is a trademark to the band. Completing the rhythm section is the incredibly talented Daniel Padron who still currently plays bass for local Houston band, MachinaTX. Newest addition to the band is secondary guitarist and backup vocalist Ryan Landrum. Landrum brings tasty harmonies not only vocally but rhythmically. Landrum has most definitely become the missing piece in the puzzle for SixL6.
Bringing it back….. They most definitely are. Texas rock and roll in its infamous glory is still alive and SixL6 proves it! There is a lot to come from this little band out of Cypress, Texas and you better believe they are packing quite a rock punch! They are here to stay, a prime example what Texas rock is all about!
